Train Tracks – Persevere Even When All Hope Is Lost

A poem

Sometimes I wonder

Is this writing for me,

Swayed by external pressure

I begrudgingly let down

Whatever happened to the brave soul

The one that made manifest

Yearning fantasies of his childhood

Life seemed so much simpler back then

Them young days – pure and blameless

Before his heart got corroded

By shallow poisons of joneses

Tirelessly tried to overcome

Yet the abyss lurked around the corner

Ghosts of his old ways, unwanted memories

Dreams unrealized and life unactualized

When all it required was to walk

One step heavenward along train tracks

To the promised land
